New Work: “Void/Emergence” and a Peek Into My Studio

Posted by: on Aug 14, 2013 | 2 Comments

Two new pieces just finished. These pieces explore the emergence into the void that is created through separation or that exist between spaces. The void that is both empty and full. The delicate geometric structure marks the transient events that take place between moments, times and places.

These pieces are work in progress. I have about 8 pieces going on in different stages. After about 20 – 30 layers, the background is finished.

Once the background is ready, each layer of translucent paint in subtle pale color is applied one day at a time as the paint needs time to dry.  The process is slow; however, it requires me to focus on each task, not unlike the practice of meditation.

Glad to see the new work. Very good stuff.

I noticed in the photo from your studio that has some wet canvases reflecting. The one with the ladder or whatever might be an interesting painting except it is only a reflection.

Thanks Richard! Those are reflections you’re seeing on those wet panels. Good to hear from you.
